Fixing the holes in the African tech landscape.

Addro was born from a simple realization: Africa possesses an immense drive for technology, yet lacks the high-end technical amenities and refined design systems required to compete globally.

We watched talented developers and designers produce work that was undermined by poor tooling, inconsistent design standards, and a lack of access to the processes that global studios take for granted.

So we decided to stop complaining and start building — a studio, a system, and eventually an ecosystem that closes that gap for good.

Seeing the gap firsthand
Working as a designer and developer, Derek began noticing a consistent pattern: African tech talent was abundant, but access to refined systems and tools was not. Talented creatives were building world-class ideas with second-class infrastructure.
2023 — The Decision
Addro is founded
Rather than accept the status quo, Derek founded Addro — a studio built on one premise: quality is non-negotiable, regardless of your zip code. The first design systems and client projects launched, establishing Addro's reputation for precision.
2024 — The Build
Growing the team and the ecosystem
Addro expanded into a small but powerful team, adding partners in mobile design and brand strategy. The Addro ecosystem vision took shape — a suite of tools, standards, and services built specifically for Africa's next generation of builders.

Setting the benchmark
